Spring Training will be run by volunteer coaches and overseen by our staff coaches. Please consider volunteering as a Coach or Assistant Coach for the Spring League.   Our Club is a volunteered based and without volunteers, we cannot run our spring league teams.  All teams will be created for each age group, once they have been formed, we will need 2 (or 3) parents to step up and Coach their child’s team.  We will also require one parent to step up as a Team Manager.  If we do not have parents volunteering to be Coaches for their child’s team, then unfortunately the team will need to be disbanded.  Please email admin@ndysc.com if you would like to Coach or Team Manager.

Long Term Player Development (LTPD) - Compliance and Leadership

The Canadian Soccer Association's Long Term Player Development Plan was launched in 2008. The model follows the principles of athlete development as laid out in the generic model Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD).

The seven-stage model provides a framework for development that ensures enjoyable lifelong playing opportunities for players at all levels of ability, as well as development pathways for elite players who pursue excellence.

The backbone of this model is the development of physical literacy as a foundation for lifelong participation and development of excellence.

The NDSC spring development program will be LTPD compliant, and managed by the technical department.

Teams will be formed from registrants of the clubs that is equal and respects the developmental needs of children at the age groups: Under 8, Under 9 and Under 10.

The framework of the NDSC spring program has been created to meet the prescribed LTPD requirements as follows:

  • Game format in terms of squad size, teams sizes, field sizes, goal sizes, and game lengths

  • Equal matched games that will create an environment of competitive soccer that will foster healthy development

  • No standings and or results will be recorded or published

  • Attention to foster the individual player, playing units, and team development

  • Designed to eliminate the current gap that exists in the various participant clubs in terms of unmatched games and opposition.

  • If for any reason a team arrives for play and is short players, these MUST be filled by the opposition to prevent lopsided games

Please find below the year of birth for each age group, effective Spring 2017.  Please note as Spring Soccer is now sanctioned by BC Soccer, the age groups will remain the same from the Fall/Winter 2016.2017 Season.
